Another name for the generic medication sodium oxybate is gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB). The brand name for the prescription drug that has been accepted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is Xyrem®, which is sodium oxybate.

Xyrem® has been licensed as a treatment for

narcolepsy, a condition characterized by abrupt, irrational, spontaneous weariness, napping, or falling asleep throughout the day, in order to reduce daytime sleepiness and muscle weakness.

Gamma butyrolactone (GBL) and 1,4-butanediol (often referred to as “BD”) are two analogs that are frequently used in place of GHB.

The production of polyurethane, insecticides, elastic fibers, medications, coatings on metal or plastic,

and other goods can be done legally using these analogs as industrial solvents.

Additionally, they are sold illegally as supplements for;

• eye improvement,
• baldness reversal,
• bodybuilding,
• fat loss,
• aging,
• depression,
• drug addiction,
• and insomnia.

Price range

GBL and BD are offered for about $150+ each bottle under the names “fish tank cleaner,” “ink stain remover,” “ink cartridge cleaner,” and “nail enamel”—significantly more expensive than equivalent goods.

Routine toxicological screenings do not find these analogues, which makes it difficult to determine who is abusing GHB analogues.

GBL was promoted as a nutritional supplement after GHB was scheduled under the trade names Revivarant and Renewtrient until

they were forbidden by the FDA because to its capacity to function as a prodrug of GHB and increase GH secretion related to sleep.

Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb) is also known as:

• “liquid ecstasy,”
• “Georgia home boy,”
• “grievous bodily harm,”
• “salty water,”
• “somatomax,”
• “easy lay,”
• “cherry menth,”
• and many more deceptive names in the gym and on the street.

The body converts the ingredients in Revivarant, Revitalizer, Blue Nitro, and Weight Belt Cleaner into GHB.

Bodybuilders claim that GHB improves their performances by triggering the release of growth hormone, encouraging restful sleep,

and hastening the breakdown of fat.
